The matching gilded bed's crown depicts two guarding foo dogs and four seasonal flowers. The elaborate design continues into the bed's interior chamber, with five back wooden panels and six side panels forming the bed's inner wall. Its inner gate features hand painted bird and flower motifs. The bed's five back panels feature paintings of birds and flowers and narrative scenes in antique gold paint, while the side panels feature serene landscapes and auspicious still life. The bed is assembled using traditional joinery techniques without glue or nails. Antique Chinese beds like this have become a favorite of collectors and interior designers in recent years, and this well-preserved bed is a true gem.
