Waterproof means most water will not pass through the cover.  It should not be used to keep anything 100% dry.  Water can collect on top after it rains but can be pushed off with a broom handle.  Its best to remove the cover during rainy season when you might not use it as much. This cover will not fit every pergola frame.  It has straight edges and is the size listed.  The only way to get the correct size for your project is to measure before ordering. Finished with double-stitched reinforced edges and 2 inch diameter rod pockets on the edges. The rod pockets are are on the second side listed, or the shorter sides.  On a 16' x 8', the rod pockets are on the 8ft sides.  A 16x8 is 8ft wide and 16ft long. By inserting weighted rods in the rod pockets and securing to the pergola, the cover will remain stable in windy conditions.
